Sweet and Spicy Asian Style Meatballs
by Masterbuilt
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground sirloin
- 1 egg white
- 1 tablespoon ice cold water
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cilantro, finely chopped
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon all-purpose fl our
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon chili flakes
Directions
- Fill Butterball® or Masterbuilt Fryer to the MAX fill line with water. Set to 375° F and bring to a boil. This will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Although cooking time on this recipe is short, water may need to be added if steamer is used for more than 60 minutes.
- Place the beef in a food processor, pulse and slowly add egg white and cold water, blending well. Place beef mixture in medium-size bowl. Add salt, soy sauce, pepper, sesame oil, cilantro, onions, flour, sugar, and chili flakes and mix until it is a light paste. Using your hands, form the mixture into 1 ½-inch meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
- Place the meatballs in the steamer basket and use the drain clip to hook basket on inner pot. (Note: Do not lower basket into water when steaming.) Cover with lid and steam for 20 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160° F. Remove meatballs from steamer basket, and turn onto a serving plate or bowl. Sprinkle with chili flakes and serve.
