Apple Fritters

Ingredients
- 1 gallon cooking oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups diced apples
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- Confectioner's sugar
- Honey
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar (a combination of equal amounts, ground cinnamon and granulated sugar)
Directions
- Fill deep fryer halfway with oil and heat to 350°F.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, apples, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Stir in egg and milk.
- Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into hot oil and fry in batches, turning once, for 7 to 8 minutes or until golden brown. Use a metal slotted spoon to transfer to paper towels to drain. Serve immediately with confectioners’ sugar, honey and/or cinnamon sugar.
