Apple Fritters

Ingredients
  • 1 gallon cooking oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups diced apples
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Confectioner's sugar
  • Honey
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar (a combination of equal amounts, ground cinnamon and granulated sugar)
Directions
  1. Fill deep fryer halfway with oil and heat to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, apples, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Stir in egg and milk.
  3. Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into hot oil and fry in batches, turning once, for 7 to 8 minutes or until golden brown. Use a metal slotted spoon to transfer to paper towels to drain. Serve immediately with confectioners’ sugar, honey and/or cinnamon sugar.
